“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10
No one gets out of this world without suffering and pain. I have never met anyone who hasn’t suffered. Turn to God and turn your suffering into a tool for redemption. If we offer ourselves to God without complaint, He can turn it into something wonderful and perfect. All we have to do is surrender to our Lord!
Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12
Peter went up on the roof to pray. But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; He saw heaven opened and something resembling a large sheet coming down, lowered to the ground by its four corners. In it were all the earth’s four-legged animals and reptiles and the birds of the sky. A voice said to him, “Get up, Peter. Slaughter and eat.” But Peter said, “Certainly not, Lord. For never have I eaten anything profane and unclean.” The voice spoke to him again, a second time, “What God has made clean, you are not to call profane.” Acts 10:9-16
It is a rainy grey day and like Peter, food is on my mind. God made everything clean when Jesus washed away our sins! Here in the Rio Grande Valley it’s dove hunting season, so we may enjoy the gifts that God has prepared for us!
“But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,”….. Luke 6:27
“Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” …. Luke 6:28
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” ….Luke 6:31
“Who is the stronger person when they are persecuted? Is it the one who lashes out when they are offended? No! That is the weak person. The strong Christian forgives with no bitterness.” Phil Robertson
So if you we are to follow Jesus then forgiveness must be as natural as breathing in and out. If you have ever struggled with asthma then you know it’s not always easy to breath, but to live we must breath. To live eternally with Christ, we mustforgive.
God calls us to follow Him. That tells me that sacrifice must be a part of life. Look at how He sacrificed His only Son. The Lamb. I think the things God asks of us to sacrifice are only to make us more pleasing to God, they help us to grow in His Grace.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6
“We must bear everything patiently and forgive all. If we have good thoughts and desires, these thoughts will give us peace and joy in this life and even more so in eternity. Then we will see that there is no death, that the Lord vanquished death, and that He has given us eternal life.” —— Elder Thaddeus
My spiritual reading (such as above) has prompted me to make a blog for sharing my own thoughts and inspirations. My husband’s encouragement was the final push. Let’s hope good fruit comes from it!
