I love this painting, it is in the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg. It was painted by Nicolas Roerich. These two young men, Boris and Gleb were brothers and Russia’s first martyrs for the Orthodox Catholic faith. Today is their feast day.
Be sure to have a box of Kleenex next to you when you read this book!
“Touching Heaven: Real Stories Of Children, Life, and Eternity” ………. by; Leanne Hadley
A must read if you have any fear of dying or are doubtful about the existence of God. These children make you fall in love with them and long for Heaven at the same time!
“Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”……Matthew 19:13-14
I have always been drawn to people of substance. The outer appearance isn’t as important as the character of the person. This world we live in focuses on how everything appears. The reason for that as I see it is because of greed appealing to vanity. They want to sell something, like new clothes, furniture, a bigger prettier house, expensive make up, plastic surgery and whatever designer is popular or impressive to others. Do you think God cares about any of that? He was born in a manger to holy parents of the greatest character. They were hard working, self sacrificing people with huge hearts for others. My best friend was exactly like that. She wrote beautifully, she was the life of the party (never at another person’s expense), she glowed with inner beauty. She wouldn’t have spent a second on worrying about superficial things. She always tried to make everyone comfortable. What she offered was her best self. If you want to be truly beautiful, “take your breath away” gorgeous, so everyone who meets you wishes they could spend more time with you, then fix the inside. Be a better person.
I’m dedicating this blog to Maria Broadly who died too soon and unexpectedly last February 20th. She was a gift from God, and I miss her every day.
Happy Birthday in Heaven. My big sister suffered with and died from ALS. The disease hurts us all more than I could ever begin to explain.
Please remember to pray for those suffering from it. May her memory be eternal!
“We must bear everything patiently and forgive all. If we have good thoughts and desires, these thoughts will give us peace and joy in this life and even more so in eternity. Then we will see that there is no death, that the Lord vanquished death, and that He has given us eternal life.” —— Elder Thaddeus
My spiritual reading (such as above) has prompted me to make a blog for sharing my own thoughts and inspirations. My husband’s encouragement was the final push. Let’s hope good fruit comes from it!
