“Brothers and sisters, pray for us. Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss.” 1 Thessalonians 5:25-26
“Greet one another with a holy kiss.” Romans 16:16
“all the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.” 1 Corinthians 16:20
“Greet one another with a holy kiss.” 2 Corinthians 13:12
This holy kiss is a form of a sacred greeting not to be confused with anything sexual, hypocritical, evil or deceitful. It was designed to make family of us all. The family of Christians. We are our Lord’s followers who are brothers and sisters in Christ! Wouldn’t it be great if all the Christian churches recognized each other with this sincere affection and friendship and we displayed our mutual love of God with a kiss. I think that would please God.
“This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
My thought raced to different scenarios; someone in prison; a women grieving – who lost her child; someone struggling with addictions and then the quote I chose. In all these things there is room to rejoice when we choose God. Jesus makes every scenario better. Unless you’ve chosen Him, you will never know what I’m talking about. That’s today’s thought. Chose Jesus and rejoice!
“Where do I go when there’s no one else to turn to? Who do I talk to when no one wants to listen? Who do I lean on when there’s no foundation stable? I go to the Rock I know that’s able. I go to the Rock of my salvation. I go to the Stone that the builders rejected. I run to the Mountain and the Mountain stands by me.” words by E.K. HEYSER
This is one of the songs I’m learning in my immersion with choir music. I love the words and thought I would share them since I woke up early this morning with this song in my head! Nice way to begin a day.
God, I am so grateful for Your amazing grace. I am so undeserving of Your mercy. I have failed. I have sinned. What is worse, I keep on sinning. I want to follow You but as I walk this road I keep on tripping. Dear God, I ask that every time I do let Your grace wash over me again. Don’t let me try to hide my failures in guilt and shame. Help me to be open and vulnerable to the world around me because they need to receive the grace that You have so richly lavished on me. Help me to turn my pitfalls into platforms. …..BJ theriverwalk.org
This erudite young man has been an inspiration to me. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me. …Psalm 16:8
I was awakened last night with thunder that shook my house and rain mixed with hail that came in at a ferocious rate and a crazy angle. I have an eight foot porch around this house and the hail-rain mix hit the windows. As you might imagine I was frightened at first until I was fully awake and my first thought was God is with me. With a smile on my face, joy in my heart I went right back to sleep. I was happy to enjoy another moment awake with my loving God who is always with me. I wonder how people feel when they think they are alone when something frightening happens in the middle of the night.
