For “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it an are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. 2 Peter 2:19-21
I think bad habits can quickly become a pattern of bad behavior and enslave us. For me the key to overcoming bad habits is to incorporate God into each day, in as many ways as I can think to. Looking at His creation; praising Him; helping others with whatever means God has given me; thanking Him for insight; seeing Him in everything including those awkward and sometimes painful moments when I feel weak and vulnerable and don’t know what to say or do. With God’s grace, strength and guidance I can survive and thrive. Jesus makes us victorious with Him, He won’t let our habits overcome us when we go to Him. God is here for you too! Thank you Jesus for being perfect, loving, intimate and caring; for picking me up whenever I fall and untangling the bad habits I have been known to create. Father, keep me from all sin, through Jesus I pray, amen.
