Last Minute

My thought is “Don’t wait till the last minute to find God!”. My relationship with God is the most satisfying relationship I could ever want. It makes all the other relationships in my life blessed and glorious. He gives me direction and helps me in everything I do. Why wouldn’t I want that? You can have it too. Just turn to Jesus as your Lord!

God is Good!

Only God is Good. All goodness in us is from God alone. Our natural bent isn’t good. So when you see good in others you are seeing God. I love how simple this is!

” You are good and you do good. Teach me your statutes!”  …Psalm 119:68

Boast of Weakness!

God, I am so grateful for Your amazing grace. I am so undeserving of Your mercy. I have failed. I have sinned. What is worse, I keep on sinning. I want to follow You but as I walk this road I keep on tripping. Dear God, I ask that every time I do let Your grace wash over me again. Don’t let me try to hide my failures in guilt and shame. Help me to be open and vulnerable to the world around me because they need to receive the grace that You have so richly lavished on me. Help me to turn my pitfalls into platforms.  …..BJ

This erudite young man has been an inspiration to me. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  2 Corinthians 12:9

Preparing Food

Peter went up on the roof to pray. But he became hungry and was desiring to eat; but while they were making preparations, he fell into a trance; He saw heaven opened and something resembling a large sheet coming down, lowered to the ground by its four corners. In it were all the earth’s four-legged animals and reptiles and the birds of the sky. A voice said to him, “Get up, Peter. Slaughter and eat.” But Peter said, “Certainly not, Lord. For never have I eaten anything profane and unclean.” The voice spoke to him again, a second time, “What God has made clean, you are not to call profane.”       Acts 10:9-16

It is a rainy grey day and like Peter, food is on my mind. God made everything clean when Jesus washed away our sins! Here in the Rio Grande Valley it’s dove hunting season, so we may enjoy the gifts that God has prepared for us!

“Training Day”, With God

I woke up greeting God and thanking Him for this day. Then my thoughts quickly shifted to what will the day hold? Today is “training day” at the fire station, the firefighters are all preparing for the coming open house, Oct 1st at 5:30. We will be inviting the public to visit their fire station, meet with the firefighters and see how they preform certain tasks. The department is giving out smoke detectors and fire safety stickers. However, today looks to be a rainy, dismal looking day. This type of day being my favorite. Grey and overcast means quiet reflective time, usually spending a fair amount of time in the kitchen. I love cooking. So me and my God can relish this peaceful time together. I can get to know Him better since He is always with me. The joy and peace that our Lord brings is the only perfection on earth. My hope is that He is training me for heaven!

A “With” God

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.   …Psalm 16:8 purple-house-2

I was awakened last night with thunder that shook my house and rain mixed with hail that came in at a ferocious rate and a crazy angle. I have an eight foot porch around this house and the hail-rain mix hit the windows. As you might imagine I was frightened at first until I was fully awake and my first thought was God is with me. With a smile on my face, joy in my heart I went right back to sleep. I was happy to enjoy another moment awake with my loving God who is always with me. I wonder how people feel when they think they are alone when something frightening happens in the middle of the night.
