Tell the Truth!

IMG_0142The 9th Commandment is “though shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor”. I was taught as a child “thou shalt not lie”, but white lies were okay if they didn’t hurt anyone. One example would be answering the phone and saying my mother’s not home when she is standing next to me saying ,”I’m not home”. I once confessed telling the truth, when telling the truth  was embarrassing to someone else and the priest said, “telling the truth can never be a sin”. I have never forgotten that. Any lie erodes another’s faith in you. It would be better not to say anything, than to tell a lie of any kind. Telling the truth when you think it will make you look stupid actually frees you from the pride of thinking you should look perfect. It’s a bonus gift! Always tell the truth.

Trust God

You are never alone. You are never alone. You are never alone. If you have life and breath in you, God is there. He knows how weak and vulnerable we are. When we go along with no thought of Him we falter and fall, and as a holy man I once knew always said, “we step in it”. We feel despair. When we trust God we still may falter, fall and step in it, but He is there. He gives us strength, He is our Comforter, our Father and our safety net. He will never stop loving us, will never leave us or will never refuse to help us. His love is so immense. Everything that has ever been created from the beginning of time, every person, planet ,universe, animal, blade of grass, everything can fit in His Heart with room to spare. We think in human terms, don’t, let your thoughts focus on God who is Eternal and know that you are never alone.

I pray that this gives you comfort.

We tend to be preoccupied with our problems when we have a heightened sense of vulnerability and a diminished sense of power. Today see each problem as an invitation to prayer.

Prayer is a dialog with our Good God! That’s my thought and the suggestion for today is to pray.

Why Sacrifice?

God calls us to follow Him. That tells me that sacrifice must be a part of life. Look at how He sacrificed His only Son. The Lamb. I think the things God asks of us to sacrifice are only to make us more pleasing to God, they help us to grow in His Grace.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.    Proverbs 3:6

That’s my thought for this morning.
